Socialising Your Puppy
The Puppy Plan is a step-by-step, simple but comprehensive, socialisation plan that starts with the breeder (or the puppy rearer, if different) who works through the first vital eight weeks. Many breeders put a lot of time and effort into making sure their puppies are well socialised but others, while trying to do the very best for their puppies, are not so aware of the importance or best methods to use during this vitally important time. A breeder who makes sure that their puppies get those vital early experiences in their first few weeks is essential in developing their emotional and psychological wellbeing. Until puppy buyers realise how to source a well-socialised puppy responsibly, we may continue to see behavioural problems develop in dogs within our local community. Getting puppies from dubious sources also fuels the puppy farm business and puts money into the pockets of unscrupulous breeders.
When the puppy goes to his new home, the Puppy Plan is then passed onto the new owner to continue.
PrepForPup by Forthglade Dog Food provides advice, videos and a downloadable booklet on puppy health and behaviour to help you understand what to expect from a puppy and how to prepare them for life as a pet to prevent later problems.
