Finding a good dog trainer or behaviourist is advisable both for prevention of aggression and also treatment if you are struggling with your dog’s behaviour. Unfortunately the dog behaviour industry is unregulated, meaning anyone can call themselves a dog behaviourist or dog trainer   without having appropriate training or qualifications. Often these individuals, although well-meaning, create aggressive dogs.

We recommend finding a behaviourist registered with the Association of Pet Behaviour Counsellors (APBC) www.apbc.org.uk

For general dog training classes we recommend a trainer registered with the APBC again or the Association of Pet Dog Trainers (APDT) http://www.apdt.co.uk/

Both of these organisations promote positive, reward based training methods which we recommend for your pet. Trying to train a dog using fear and punishment is likely to make a dog MORE aggressive.
